A single aerial photograph has perspective distortion baked into it. Objects lean away from the center of the frame, scale changes across the image, and terrain displacement means a measurement taken in one corner does not match the same measurement taken in another. You cannot measure reliably on a raw photo.
An orthomosaic is built differently. Sellers LP flies a structured grid over the site, capturing hundreds of images with deliberate front and side overlap. Photogrammetric processing identifies common points across those overlapping frames, reconstructs the camera position for each one, corrects for lens distortion and terrain displacement, and stitches the corrected imagery into a single seamless image with uniform scale throughout.
The result is a map, not a picture. Every pixel sits at a known real-world coordinate. Distances, areas, and positions measured anywhere on the image are consistent with distances, areas, and positions measured anywhere else on it. That is what makes it usable inside CAD, GIS, and project management software rather than just something to look at.
Satellite and public aerial imagery is the default comparison, and it loses on all three counts that matter. It is old — often a year or more out of date, which makes it useless on an active site. Its resolution is coarse, typically measured in tens of centimeters per pixel, so small features simply are not there. And you have no control over when it was captured or what the conditions were.
Drone-captured orthomosaics are flown on your schedule, at a ground sample distance fine enough to resolve individual site features, under conditions you specify. On a South Florida site that matters more than most places: afternoon convective buildup, seasonal vegetation change, and hurricane-season site conditions all mean the difference between imagery captured this week and imagery captured last year is not academic.
Capture is RTK-enabled using Florida's open NTRIP correction network, which tightens positional consistency across the flight. Where a project calls for tighter absolute accuracy, ground control points are placed and processed into the dataset.
Orthomosaics are delivered as georeferenced GeoTIFF, which opens directly in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, QGIS, ArcGIS, and every mainstream GIS and CAD environment without conversion or reprojection work on your end.
Processing runs through DroneDeploy, which integrates directly with Procore — so if your project already lives in Procore, the map lands where your team is already working rather than in a separate silo. Pix4D and WebODM are used where a project's processing requirements call for them.
Most of Broward and Miami-Dade sits inside controlled airspace. Flights near Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL), North Perry (HWO), Opa-locka (OPF), Miami International (MIA), and Palm Beach International (PBI) require LAANC authorization, which is filed as part of standard mission planning. Airspace coordination is part of the job.

A single large aerial image of your site, stitched from hundreds of overlapping photographs and geometrically corrected so that scale is uniform across the entire image. Because the distortion has been removed and the image is tied to real-world coordinates, you can measure distances and areas directly on it.
Currency, resolution, and control. Public imagery is frequently a year or more old, captured at a resolution too coarse to resolve site-level detail, and you have no say in when it was taken. A drone orthomosaic is flown on your schedule at a far finer ground sample distance.
On an active construction site, imagery from last year is not a record of anything useful.
Two levels. Relative accuracy is the standard workflow — measurements across the map are internally consistent, which is what most construction progress, site documentation, and volumetric work requires. Survey-grade absolute accuracy requires ground control points placed on the site and processed into the dataset alongside RTK corrections.
Which one you need depends on what the deliverable feeds. Your surveyor or engineer is the right person to specify that, and they remain the certifying party either way.
